Sector Alpha Administration Blog
Well, my degree is now done, my exams complete, and I will never be in any form of "traditional" education ever again. If all goes to plan mark wise, I will be starting a PhD next year, meeting new people and making new friends along with more oppertunities for me to network on an academic (cosmology), Sector Alpha and game development basis. Speaking of game development, I shall be resuming my good old game development ways with PTSnoop on www.darkfieldgames.com. Hopefully we shall ...

So everyone here is probably wondering what just happened with regards to the Sector Alpha website. Essentially, the gist of it is. We now have our own Dedicated server (i3 8Gb RAM) purely for hosting websites such as www.sector-alpha.net, www.darkfieldgames.com and any website that any of our subscribers wish to host so long as it dosent take up too much resources. This is located in Canada. Why did we move? Essentially with the confusion going on between the organisations ...
Hello everyone, I would like to go over a few things that I intend on doing with regard to Sector Alpha over the next few weeks and over the next year or so Server Migration When: Saturday 29th December 6pm GMT onwards (probably lasting until Sunday 30th December 6pm GMT if all goes to plan). I intend on upgrading out existing server to a new one. However, with the server being at a datacentre, Sector Alpha pays the rent on a specific ...
Hey everyone. I just thought that I take this opportunity to wish everyone in the Sector Alpha community a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Bloodlust80 and the Sector Alpha team.
Here There and Everywhere I have been meaning to write this blog post for a while actually. More so to update you guys on my current situation and the situation of Sector Alpha What has Bloodlust80 been up to? First of all, I will start with myself. Recently some of you may have spotted that I am appearing to be less active than usual. My online presence has been decreased somewhat over the past few weeks simply with starting my new academic ...
Hello everyone. I have alot of things that I would like to say. I will try and keep them in some form of logical order. But I can guarentee that it will fail For those who do not know, I am Ben, also known as Bloodlust80. And I (like to think) that I am the chairman of this place, and thus am the person "technically in charge". Although over the past few weeks and months, I have been devolving some of the things I have once managed and maintained myself, to those appropriate. Nowadays, ...
Hello First of all, apologies for being quiet about the dedicated server configuration and installation. But like setting up a new computer, setting up a dedicated server does take some time, especially if you are going to have multiple users using it. The game servers that are currently installed will be going public once we have got a name for the server. All the game servers shall be accessed by the same ip. e.g sanet.sector-alpha.net if we were to call the server sanet. ...
Time for some positive news. I have been keeping this update under wraps for over a month. Along with quite a few other people too. But thanks to the donators, subscribers and future subscribers of Sector Alpha. I can announce the following Sector Alpha is going to get a dedicated server That is right! a Dedicated server, hosted at a data centre. If all goes to plan, tomorrow (or thursday) we shall be purchasing a dedicated server with the following specs ...

Hello everyone. If you are as disappointed about the recent website update as I am, then you will find that the reasons are beyond my control. My desktop (from which I preform most if not all of my Sector Alpha activities from) as of yesterday has been failing to boot at no fault of my own. I was hoping to have finished all the work that needs to be done on the SA website yesterday/today. But unfortunately I had to compromise with the old style that we have, but with the ...
First of all. no I am not some sort of viral marketer for GW2 or anything. Just a gamer who has initially grown skeptical of the MMO market. Infact I was skeptical about spending £50 on a pre-purchase for the beta, but one of my friends told me to do it as he was doing it so I thought, you know what, I may as well bite the bullet and purchase. I have played quite a few MMO's in my time. Starting with runescape in which i got as far as being lv 116 over time. Then I got bored of that ...
